AAPS Middle School Summer School Opportunity

The Ann Arbor Public School District offers a variety of summer programs. Many of the programs are designed for students who would benefit from added educational support during the summer months.

Middle School Volunteer Program

Volunteering has numerous benefits to both the volunteer and  the program that they assist.   It is a resume builder for the participant, giving the volunteer what could be their first work experience. Being a volunteer also provides opportunities for students to learn and demonstrate responsibility and leadership.

The Middle School Volunteer Program, MSVP will be an interactive opportunity for students to develop leadership skills. The goal is to create a “lead by example” environment for the MSVP’s assisting campers with activities or projects depending on the camp.  The MSVP’s will work with our younger campers, generally ages 5-7 under the direct supervision of adult instructors.

Rising 7th and 8th graders Middle School students can apply directly at  Here is a direct link.  The sooner middle school students apply, the better, because of the limited number of spots we have in the program.  Review of applications will be ongoing and the deadline to apply is May 4th.

Rec & Ed also offers a volunteer opportunity for rising 9th graders at the High School. The High School Volunteer Program has been in existence for seven years.  A major advantage for a high school student to  volunteer is it  fulfills a requirement for graduation.
