Peer 2 Peer Mentoring

Peer to peer mentoring is a program that guides and facilitates opportunities for mutually beneficial social interactions between typically developing students and those with significant social and communication challenges.  This program involves systematic training and ongoing support for peer mentoring.

Mentors should be interested in building relationships with a variety of students, be willing to learn about different learning styles, show responsibility, a caring attitude and be positive role models. Most importantly, mentors should have fun!

Currently, at Clague Middle School, we are implementing peer-to-peer mentoring in various ways.  Some peer mentors will be positive role models during an Adaptive Physical Education Class for students with disabilities. Other students will support our mentees during typical general education electives during the school year.  Additionally, we will continue to support advisory and lunch activities that promote peer-to-peer interactions.
